Sir Ringo Starr has revealed the heartwarming message he’d give his late Beatles bandmembers George Harrison and John Lennon if they were here today.
While celebrating his 85th birthday on Monday, Ringo took a moment to remember his friends George, who died in 2001 from cancer, and John, who was shot and killed in 1980.
The acclaimed musician opened up about what he wished he could tell them exclusively with the Daily Mail during his ‘Peace & Love Birthday Celebration’ in Beverly Hills, California.
When asked what he’d say to George and John if they were there, Ringo said with a laugh, ‘What are you doing here?’
He then added, ‘Actually I would say I love you and I miss you, that is what I would say.’
Ringo, who played drums for the Beatles and occasionally sang lead vocals, also reflected on the band’s massive success.

The British rock group, which was made up of Ringo, George, John, and Paul McCartney, was formed in 1960 and released a slew of hits that are still beloved by millions even now, decades on.
And Ringo admitted that he’s honored that people are still listening to their music today.
‘We are still being played today, we did a great job,’ he reflected.
He also pointed out that ‘a lot of their songs’ were about ‘peace and love,’ a message that he now dedicates his life to spreading.
Ringo has spent years trying to encourage his fans to help end violence with his ‘peace and love’ initiative, and each year on his birthday since 2008, ‘peace and love’ celebrations have been held all around the globe in his honor.
‘We’re seeing a lot of things happening right now and we need peace and love,’ he stressed.
‘If you are thinking of peace and love, you’re not doing anything else, so on my birthday, it is important that we are all doing [that]. We should all be here for peace and love, not for any violence.’
Decades after the band went their separate ways, British film director Sam Mendes is in the midst of creating four Beatles biopics that will be released in April 2028.

And Ringo revealed that he’s been heavily involved in the films, telling the Daily Mail that he spent ‘two days’ working with Sam to ensure the way he depicts their story is accurate.
He gave the movies his seal of approval, explaining that he’s a big fan of Sam’s work and that he was extremely happy with the script.
‘I have spent time with [Sam] and on the scripts,’ he shared. ‘He knows what he is doing, he is fabulous, he has a great love of The Beatles.
‘We love his films and he is a very kind guy. He will do great. I spent two days with Sam and we made only a few changes.’
He jokingly added, ‘But I am not going to say anything good or bad about it until I see it and it comes out.
‘It’s strange, four movies are coming out on the same day, but he is filming them all together, don’t ask me.’
The former Beatle looked in brilliant health as he was joined by other big-name celebrities at the bash, including Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh.
Ringo also opened up about his sobriety during his chat with the Daily Mail; he famously cut out all drug and alcohol after a rehab stint in 1988.

‘We’re seeing a lot of things happening right now and we need peace and love,’ he told the Daily Mail
‘I ended up in a rehab because I was not treating myself or anyone around me with any respect,’ he shared. ‘I have not a drink since. Thank you, Lord.’
Ringo, whose real name is Richard Starkey, was still echoing the swinging 1960s in his choice of outfit and wore a peace sign necklace and tinted oval sunglasses.
He added a modern twist to the outfit with a white denim jacket and black jeans, keeping himself on theme with a black T-shirt with a peace and love theme.
A concert was held in honor of the legendary musician at the event and he was seen happily singing along with his wife, Barbara Bach, 77, at his side.
