In what may just be a repeat of previous rumors, a new leak claims to have the dimensions of both the iPhone Fold’s exterior and interior displays.
Apple’s long-rumored iPhone Fold is expected to have an outer screen resembling a regular iPhone, and then a larger interior one that is revealed by opening up the device. Multiple leaks have claimed to have the sizes of these two screens, but recent ones are more likely to be accurate since Apple reportedly now has a production prototype.
Market research firm Trendforce now says that the iPhone Fold will have a 5.5-inch external display, and a 7.8-inch internal one. Trendforce does not give any basis for this claim, or cite its sources, but claims to have been studying the foldable market.
The stated dimensions exactly match those claimed by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in March 2025. Of course, they would match if the leaks are accurate, but it’s also entirely possible that Trendforce — not known for accurate leaks — is simply regurgitating Kuo’s reports.
Kuo and now Trendforce may both be saying display sizes of 5.5-inch internal and 7.8 external, but there are conflicting rumors. In June 2025, leaker “Digital Chat Station” claimed that the interior screen would be 7.58 inches diagonally.
However, the same leaker said it was 7.74 inches in March 2025, then 7.76 inches in April 2025.
Every one of these leaks could actually be accurate, and yet not match the final shipping product. For Apple has reportedly had iPhone fold prototypes since at least 2020, and of course, any number of variations could have been tried since.
At times, Apple has even been reported to have abandoned plans for a folding iPhone, but that was in the same February 2024 when the company was also said to have two more prototypes.
Each iPhone Fold rumor of the last six years since Samsung released its first folding device has claimed that Apple will launch one “next year.” This does now appear to be more likely than ever before, however.
That’s because Apple is now said to have put aside its own folding screen design and elected to use a Samsung Display one in order to start manufacturing in time for a 2026 launch. Then, too, Samsung is said to have now built a new production line expressly for the iPhone fold screens.
