Gogglebox stars beg Channel Ten to ‘rethink’ sacking of Australian Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia: ‘Absolutely devastated’

Gogglebox’s Lee and Keith are up in arms after the sudden axing of beloved Australian Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia.
The fellow Channel Ten stars took to Instagram on Tuesday to voice their frustrations over the move, begging the network to ‘rethink’ their decision.
Lee and Keith slammed Channel Ten, not only for their decision to sack the longtime host, but for their chosen replacement.
‘I am absolutely devastated to hear that Jonathan (JLP) has been replaced. AND BY DAVID GENAT,’ they began.
The post continued: ‘Jonathan to me is the Australian Survivor. I truly don’t know how anyone would think this will boost the ratings.

‘One of my favourite shows without Jonathan at the helm.’
The Gogglebox stars then implored the network to note the public’s negative response to the axing and reconsider the controversial move.
‘Please channel 10 rethink your decision. You must know by now the outrage in the public forum who loves Survivor is NOT happy about this.’
They finished the post: ‘Everyone is heartbroken, Jonathan. It will not be the same without you.’
On Monday, Jonathan confirmed he had been axed as host of Australian Survivor after a decade in the role.
The 55-year-old, who has fronted the hit show since 2016, will make his final appearance on the upcoming season, Australia V The World, set to air later this year.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Jonathan said he was shocked by Channel 10’s decision to let him go, which was first revealed by Daily Mail Australia on Sunday.
He also revealed the brutal way the network delivered the news – via telephone.

‘Australian Survivor has seen some of the most epic blindsides over the last 10 years, but this one might just be the craziest of them all… because it happened to me,’ he began on Instagram.
‘I received a call from the Network thanking me for all my hard work and dedication to the show but for next season they are ‘going in a different direction,” he explained.
‘Ratings had dipped a bit recently and they wanted to do something drastic to shake things up. So for the first time ever this is not a tribe swap, but a host swap. Yes, you read that right.
‘I wish I could say, ‘Before we go to vote, tonight is a little different… no one’s going home’. But I can’t. None of that non-elim bulls**t tonight! Someone IS going home. And with no idol in my back pocket, that someone is me.’
He continued: ‘I have loved and will dearly miss the immensely talented crew, all the crafty players and our loyal sassy audience. I’m a huge fan of this incredible game, always have been, always will be.
‘It has been one of the greatest adventures of my career to helm Australian Survivor, so it is without a doubt the hardest challenge of all to snuff my own torch, but here goes: “LP… the tribe has spoken.”‘
