
A car has this morning crashed into a central London landmark, causing streets to be closed off streets with two people rushed to hospital with injuries.
Police and paramedics blue-lighted to a Piccadilly Circus roundabout at around 5.25am where a car had flipped near a fountain.
Photos show police tape sealing off roads and the crash scene where the heavily damaged vehicle is seen on its roof.
London Ambulance paramedics arrived within minutes of receiving a 999 call, with one person being rushed to a major trauma centre.
Another person has been taken to a local hospital.
One witness said the car had seemed to have ‘driven straight into the fountain’.
Writing on X, they said: ‘Roads leading to and away from it seem to be closed off by tape.
‘Biggest roundabout in London closed off on a weekend, what a day.’

Debris is scattered over the pavement, with a metal bollard dismantled on the floor.
The fountain, more popularly known as Eros, which has the winged Greek god Anteros on top, does not appear to be damaged.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 5.25am today (29 June) to reports of a road traffic collision on Piccadilly, W1J.
‘We sent a number of resources, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
‘Our first paramedic arrived on scene in less than four minutes.
‘We treated two people. We took one patient to a major trauma centre and the other patient to a local hospital.’
