Drew Barrymore gets touchy feely with Cate Blanchett in viral clip driving fans wild

Drew Barrymore had fans buzzing on Monday after sharing a tender moment with Cate Blanchett on The Drew Barrymore Show.

The E.T. alum, 50, welcomed the Oscar-winning actress, 56, and quickly launched into a playful discussion about Cate’s love of wigs in films.

Cate even slipped on a brunette wig, but when she pulled it off and a few strands of her real hair fell out of place, Drew quickly jumped up to help. 

With a soft smile and a twinkle in her eye, Drew gently smoothed Cate’s hair and said sweetly, ‘Let me make sure everything is perfect. You deserve to look beautiful.’

As she cupped Cate’s face and slowly sat back down, the Australian actress smiled and joked, ‘Oh thank you, I’ve been stroked by Drew.’

As many viewers recalled, Drew has long made it clear she’s a huge Cate Blanchett fan — even joking back in 2017 while promoting The Santa Clarita Diet that Cate would be her dream celebrity to eat if she were a zombie — so it’s no wonder social media lit up with reactions to the sweet hair-fixing moment.

Back in 2017, while promoting The Santa Clarita Diet — where she played a suburban mom-turned-zombie — Drew was asked which celebrity she’d most like to eat. 

‘Cate Blanchett because she’s like the most amazing woman ever,’ Drew answered at the time. 

She added, ‘She’d be umami. That’s the combination of all the perfect flavors that create that palate explosion that you just can’t top.’

The tender moment with Cate comes on the heels of another fan-favorite Barrymore sighting — this time during a laid-back luxury yacht getaway. 

Drew was recently seen enjoying the South of France with her daughters, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 11, whom she shares with her ex-husband Will Kopelman, choosing a practical black one-piece over the usual string bikinis favored by other stars. 

She leapt off the boat into the ocean with a friend and later dried off on deck, towel cinched at the waist.

Last year, Drew opened up about body image on her show, admitting, ‘This weekend, I went to the beach with my girls and I just was like: ‘Ugh, I’m gonna take off my shirt and then I’m gonna be in my bathing suit and I’m gonna run into the water, and my thighs are gonna go like this,’; she said, miming them rubbing together.
