Some of Kelly Clarkson’s closest business associates are reacting to her cancelation of the opening two shows of her Las Vegas residency — and say they’re worried the beloved star could be making a series of bad decisions.
The latest controversy started over the weekend, when the 43-year-old singer took to her Instagram just 90 minutes before her Las Vegas show, explaining that she was ‘devastated’ to postpone the concerts following grueling rehearsals.
The Grammy winner further expressed that she needed ‘to protect’ her voice in order to prevent ‘doing serious damage.’
Yet only a few hours before her shock announcement, the show had still been due to go ahead. Clarkson even uploaded behind-the-scenes photos of herself preparing for the residency with the caption: ‘TONIGHT!!’
‘I love Kelly dearly,’ a staffer on her eponymous TV show exclusively told the Daily Mail, ‘but the whiplash is a lot with her right now.’
‘She’s all in on the talk show, then she’s not, then she is again,’ the source continued. ‘She’s performing in Vegas, now she’s not. It’s her voice. It’s personal issues. It’s enough to make you crazy.’
According to the insider, the latest saga in Clarkson’s life has left those close to her labeling her a ‘flake’.

Clarkson said she was ‘devastated’ to postpone the concerts following grueling rehearsals

‘She’s all in on the talk show, then she’s not, then she is again,’ our source said. ‘She’s performing in Vegas, now she’s not. It’s her voice. It’s personal issues. It’s enough to make you crazy’

In an Instagram story, the singer said she’d be back next week
‘She’s the sweetest woman in show business,’ the insider insisted, ‘And not to be mean, but she’s being a flake. I’m sorry, but that’s how it feels. She’s being flaky. And that’s very hard to be in business with.’
Fans turned on the Because of You singer after she posted an apology that she was canceling the show right before the doors opened.
Many fans revealed they’d flown to Las Vegas just to see Clarkson perform.
One wrote online: ‘Totally bummed that we flew all the way to Vegas only to find out that the show was cancelled 1 1/2 hours prior to show time. So so sad!!’ and another added, ‘I’m outside the doors,’ followed by crying face emojis.
‘This stinks so bad for people who spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to travel to see these performers,’ an Instagram user shared.
A fan wrote, ‘Understand. Bummed to miss you next weekend but feel better and hopefully I can make it to a fall show :).’
The cancelation has continued a difficult year for Clarkson.
Back in March, she notably had a mysterious 10-day absence from her talk show due to a ‘private matter.’
While the star never gave a full explanation of her absence, reports emerged that her future on her Emmy-winning talk show was seemingly up in the air.
Her contract with NBC comes to an end in 2026, and Clarkson is allegedly considering walking away from her show.
But the show source insists that Clarkson has goodwill among the staff. ‘If she leaves, she leaves. We’ll be okay. We just need to know what’s next so we can plan.’
And as for the residency postponement, the source said that it’s unclear what really happened — but that there’s cause for concern.
‘Honestly, I don’t know if it’s her voice or not.’ the insider dished to the Daily Mail. ‘She has had voice issues before and obviously it’s a lot of work preparing for a residency.’
‘But this is not good,’ the source continued. ‘It feels like she has been phoning it in on the show because she wants to perform, but she then postpones her residency. It has people here really wondering.’
The Daily Mail has contacted reps for Clarkson for comment.
