Rod Stewart leaves Glastonbury stage to fix urgent issue as his glamorous backing singers take over the Pyramid stage during Legends set

Rod Stewart made sure to put on an jam-packed Glastonbury performance on Sunday, but he had to let his backing singers take over midway through his set.
The singer, 80, played the Legends slot on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm to a huge crowd when almost an hour in he announced he was taking a break.
Following his rendition of Do Ya Think I’m Sexy, Rod told the crowd: ‘The girls are going to do a song for you while I change my shirt.’
The glamorous female singers, dressed in matching sequin dresses, entertained the festival goers with an impressive performance of Lady Marmalade.
Rod later returned to the stage ditching is jacket, white shirt and jeans combination for a bold pink suit.
The Maggie May hitmaker put on an impressive show in the sweltering heat before taking a second break to change into an eye catching green suit.

Taking over the stage once again was his backing singers who performed a rendition of Tina Turner’s Proud Mary.
Elsewhere Rod made a very awkward gaffe while introducing Lulu at Glastonbury as he brought out three surprise guests.
Lulu’s entry didn’t go as smoothly as Rod had hoped as he introduced Ronnie Wood followed by Lulu.
He said: ‘Now it gives me really great pleasure to bring on two legends, first of all Ronnie Wood. Here he is put your hands together and the wonderful Lulu…’
As the stage fell silent, Rod looked around awkwardly for Lulu as she didn’t join him on stage.
He then added: ‘Oh yeah, Lulu is coming on next’, causing the crowd to laugh at the mistake.
Rod continued, ‘Come on Ronnie lets do it like the old days son’, as the pair broke out with Ronnie playing guitar for him on a rendition of Stay With Me.
Rod passed the stage to Ronnie, who was dressed in a black sequin jacket, for a guitar solo and the old pals sang together on the chorus.

Following the track Scottish hitmaker Lulu, 76, joined them on stage, Rod said: ‘Come on Lulu baby, where is she’.
Running on stage, she replied: ‘You’re killing it’.
Lulu looked sensational in an all-white ensemble consisting of fringed trousers and a blazer as the duo got the crowd hyped up with a version of Hot Legs.
The hitmaker, who commanded attention in a green suit, finished the track by saying: ‘What a girl! Come on big round of applause’.
Also during the set, Rod made sure to put on a jam packed performance with multiple costume changes and also brought out Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall, 65.
Running over by around five minutes, the hitmaker concluded: ‘Thank you Lulu, thank you Ronnie and Nick, I’ve got to get off the stage now so I’m going to leave you with this’, as he finished his set singing hit track Sailing.
