A young man has been rushed to hospital after he was shot while sitting inside a parked car in a horror late-night shooting in Sydney’s northwest.
The man in his 20s was shot on Hickeys Lane in Penrith, just before 10pm on Friday.
He was treated for a single gunshot wound at the scene before he was taken to hospital for his non-life threatening injuries.
Just minutes later, police and fire crews received reports of a car fire on Kindlebark Close in the nearby suburb of Claremont Meadows.
Fire crews extinguished the fire.
Two crime scenes have been established with specialist officers expected to comb both for clues on Saturday.
Police believe the fire and the shooting could be linked.
‘While investigations into both incidents are in their infancy, one line of inquiry being examined is that both incidents are linked,’ police said in a statement.
