
Carrie Bickmore has broken down in tears after reading a heartbreaking letter from a mother who is battling brain cancer, on the eve of her Big Five charity event.
The veteran presenter, 44, shared a clip to social media on Saturday in which she became emotional as she read out the sad letter she had received.
‘I hope this letter finds you well. I am Courtney and I have had brain cancer since I was 34, nine years,’ Carrie read out.
‘I used to be a nurse and I loved it, but now I am the patient. When I woke up at hospital, I was told the diagnosis and my life expectancy was one to two years.
‘I laughed at the doctors and told them they were wrong, told them I was leaving. I have a boy who is five years old now. Never once did I think I was going to die.

‘This diagnosis has changed me for the better… I see more beauty in the world now.’
Carrie’s voice was heard breaking as she told fans it is important to continue to do charity work to support people like Courtney.
‘It was heartbreaking but so inspiring and another reminder why we are here. You’ll be there with me every step Courtney,’ Carrie said.

The veteran presenter is preparing for the Big Five Marathon in South Africa later this month, to raise money for her Beanies 4 Brain Cancer charity.
She will be joined by her radio co-star Tommy Little on an arduous half marathon through the the Entabeni private game reserve in South Africa.
The duo, competing as the Carrie and Tommy Show team will run alongside the likes of Ellidy Pullin, Olivia Molly Rogers, Sam Wood, Laura Enever, Trent Cotchin, and Merrick Watts.
Last month, Carrie told Confidential that the big five African animals ‘will make me run fast, that is for sure’.

‘Last year they had to delay the start of the race because there was a lion roaming around. I’ve decided not to read up too much about it because I’ve decided if I read about it, I won’t go,’ she said.
‘I’m just going to go there with my eyes closed and open them at the start line and see what happens.’
Carrie and her crew of famous friends will attempt to raise money for the Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation, which she set up after her late husband, Greg Lange, lost his battle with brain cancer.
She announced she would continue Greg’s legacy with the charity during her Gold Logie acceptance speech in 2015.
Despite his terminal condition, Carrie and Greg married in 2005 when she was just 25 and had a son, Oliver.
Earlier this year, Carrie gave her social media followers a sneak peak into her training regime for the half-marathon.
The Adelaide-born star lifted weights in each hand as she showed her commitment to building strength.
